When people think of Finnish Lapland, they usually think of Rovaniemi, Santa Claus, reindeer and the Northern Lights. 🎅🏻🦌✨

But there’s so much more to Lapland than the places everyone already knows.

Here’s a little curiosity about Kittilä:

⛏️ Kittilä is home to one of Europe’s largest gold mines.

Yes… a gold mine right in the middle of the Arctic wilderness! ❄️🌲

And Kittilä is much more than that. Its area includes Levi, one of Finland’s most popular winter destinations, but also vast forests, tiny villages, Arctic adventures and peaceful places far away from the busiest tourist spots.

And honestly, this is one of the things I love most about Lapland:
